We support education by building its infrastructure

May 2017 | Al Mazroui
“Education is like a lantern which lights your way in a dark alley”, this is what the Father of the Nation, H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan taught his people and how he led the country to a brighter future.

Dedicated to the same beliefs of performance and innovation, the MAPCO team embarked in the “Future Schools” ambitious program, initiated in 2008 by the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), which aims to build 100 new school facilities throughout Abu Dhabi by 2020.

More than just a construction project, this is an intrinsic part of an overall strategic plan to transform education in the U.A.E.

In Phase 4 of this remarkable program, MAPCO participated along with Civil Engineering Contractor United Engineering, under the guidance of Mousadana, undertaking the MEP Scope, (mechanical, electrical and plumbing), of the Abu Dhabi Future School construction project at Al Shwamekh, Cycle 2 & 3 for Girls, a facility designed to house 1260 students. The project was successfully completed and handed over to the client in February 14th of 2015 and Mapco’s contributions have been endorsed with a 2-Pearl rating, under the “Pearl Rating System”  of the U.A.E. Estidama rating system – a key program of the "Abu Dhabi Vision 2030", referring to a building design methodology for constructing and operating buildings and communities more sustainably.

The project’s potential eco-friendly performance, evidence by its Estidama achieved rating, was ensured by following a prescribed set of design and construction methodologies, recognized for their sustainability features, both in the material as well as in the construction methodology used, throughout the lifecycle of the project, from design through construction to operation.

Urban Planning Council (UPC) aims through Estidama (“sustainability” in Arabic) to create more viable communities and public infrastructure by balancing the four pillars of sustainable development: environmental, economic, cultural and social.

With over thirty years of handling turnkey electromechanical projects in the Gulf, the MAPCO team offers more than complete value engineered solutions tailored to the region, they keep the gate opened for a promising future and sustainable infrastructure.
