tFor its 50th anniversary,
OTC drew to Houston (Texas) energy professionals from around the world to gain insights from global experts and peers. While speakers exposed their views on the changing landscape of exploration and production, exhibitors displayed the impact of technology and digitalisation on the science of energy supply and demand management.
Focus on InnovationFrom the 6th to the 9th of May 2019, OTC featured numerous thought leadership conversations between energy executives, with an expanded global reach. Indeed, the event gathered 59,200 attendees from over 100 countries. Amongst them, more than 2,300 companies exhibited the future of offshore activities. In four days, hundreds of technical sessions were held. There were 328 new exhibitors this year and non-American companies made up 52% of them.
While celebrating 50 years since its foundation, OTC 2019 spent equal focus on the next half-century. “
This year has been unparalleled in terms of showcasing the new technology that is driving our industry, both in efficiency and innovative solutions,” Wafik Beydoun, OTC Board of Directors Chairman, said. “
OTC continues to evolve in response to our changing world, this year including fourteen sessions dedicated to offshore renewables, which just further reinforces that this is not only the largest but the most impactful energy conference in the world.”
Moreover, the OTC Golden Anniversary Gala Dinner raised USD 300,000 for Spindletop Charities. Since 1966, the nonprofit organisation has contributed more than USD 22 million to aid programs such as child abuse prevention, paediatric medical research and addiction prevention. This has been possible through hosting annual fundraisers in the oil and gas industry.
Al Mazroui Engineering Joined the UAE DelegationThe UAE delegation to the conference was notably supported by ADIPEC and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It was led by Thomas Bruns, Regional Senior Commercial Officer for the Gulf of the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi. In a communiqué, he explains that the remarkable trade ties between the United States and the UAE would not be possible without the oil and gas industry, critical to both economies. Thomas Bruns considers that “events such as OTC provide excellent opportunities to strengthen these ties and to explore areas for increased cooperation.”
