Following a directive from Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism prohibiting events in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, ADIPEC went virtual this year. The platform allowed energy professionals to attend from their device, anywhere in the world.Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (
ADIPEC) took place virtually from the 9th to the 12th of November.
The virtual exhibition provided opportunities to network and identify the latest solutions to 0enable cost optimisation and advance the way the oil and gas industry operates. At the same time, ADIPEC 2020 Virtual hosted one of the world’s largest and most influential energy conferences. Leaders, innovators and industry experts offered critical insights on challenges impacting the future of energy, providing directions and strategies to navigate this complex time. This dialogue and knowledge-transfer addressed today’s energy challenges and defined tomorrow’s hydrocarbon landscape.
Like every year, the registration for visitors was done in a few clicks. However, this time, instead of physically going to the Abu Dhabi National Event Centre, attendees could log in to the virtual exhibition from their devices (smartphone, computer and tablet), from anywhere in the world. Visiting a booth was replaced by visiting an exhibitor’s page, where the professionals virtually present at the exhibition could be contacted by a simple request,
allowing people to chat online and discuss business while staying safe. For Mansoor Mohamed, engineer at
Habshan Trading and General Services, a company of the Al Mazroui Group, this new format allowed more precise and focused contacts. He could easily identify the companies of interest for his business and send a request or take the contact details of the right person. Indeed, all attendees could upload their job title, contact details and picture, allowing instant connections.
For the engineer, this virtual experience was efficient and time-saving: ‘I would log in to virtual ADIPEC when arriving at the office and check the exhibition throughout the day, while working on my projects at the same time.’Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) took the opportunity of this virtual version of ADIPEC to announce the launch of its Virtual Energy Center, an online platform providing an immersive 3D experience across the company’s full value chain. This virtual centre showcases four different virtual rooms, each demonstrating through innovative and interactive exhibits and displays, ADNOC’s history and transformation journey to becoming the national oil company of the future.
Going virtual enabled ADIPEC to maintain its position as a premium event, partner of choice and market leader within the global energy event industry. It also showed ADIPEC’s capacity to innovate and adapt to challenges.
Up to 40,000 energy professionals from over 100 countries attended the event. More than 100 companies exhibited virtually their latest technologies and services to adapt to an evolving energy landscape. In addition, more than 100 hours of invaluable insight will be available online for a month, to be streamed anywhere and anytime.
The next full in-person ADIPEC is scheduled for November 2021, enabling industry stakeholders to exhibit their innovation, introduce new products, develop partnerships and conduct business. ADIPEC 2021 is set to offer oil and gas professionals the right tools to fast track their recovery and highlight pathways to a successful future.
